Laminates

A laminate is a material made by joining together two or more layers of material and sealing them through heat and pressure. Products using laminates may include: flooring, tabletops, work surfaces, and countertops. Laminates are designed to be tough, durable, and scratch resistant. Abrasives are an essential material used in making the laminate. A thin film of abrasive is adhered to the layers of material thus providing the wear resistance properties needed to make the laminate tough enough to stand up to heavy wear.

Laminates require a carefully sized, pure, fine grit abrasive in order to work effectively. Washington Mills specializes in making customized abrasive grains to suit particular laminate applications and specifications.
