Efficient non-ferrous metal recovery, or aggregate and ore separation can be achieved with the use of Washington Mills' DURAMET (15 percent ferrosilicon) in heavy media separation and sink-float processes. Materials are processed by using a water suspension of DURAMET to attain liquid gravities up to 3.25. High density grades of DURAMET are available for over 3.25 liquid gravity requirements. Produced as a co-product of bauxite based aluminum oxide, DURAMET is manufactured in electric arc furnaces and subsequently milled to standard sizes engineered specifically for these industries.

It contains aluminum and titanium which results in less corrosion, faster startups and lower rates of material breakdown.
